Heavy Industry Steel Structure — Engineered for Extreme Loads and Harsh Service
Sino East Steel Group designs and fabricates heavy industrial steel structures for the most demanding applications: steel mills, cement plants, power stations, petrochemical complexes, and heavy manufacturing facilities. With member thicknesses up to 80mm, full-penetration welding qualified to AWS D1.1 and EN 1090 EXC4, and design capacities exceeding 1,000 tons per project, we deliver structures that withstand high dynamic loads, extreme temperatures, and corrosive environments for decades of reliable service.
What Defines a Heavy Industry Steel Structure?
Heavy industry structures differ from standard commercial buildings in three key aspects: (1) higher load capacity — supporting heavy equipment, cranes (up to 200-ton capacity), vibrating machinery, and bulk material storage; (2) thicker members and more robust connections — primary members often use plate thicknesses from 20mm to 80mm, with full-penetration butt welds and thick gusset plates; (3) specialized design considerations — fatigue analysis for dynamic loads, vibration damping, high-temperature resistance, and corrosion protection for aggressive environments.

Engineering Capabilities
Our engineering team performs comprehensive structural analysis using STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, and ANSYS for complex projects requiring finite element analysis (FEA). Design considerations include: static and dynamic load combinations per ASCE 7, fatigue analysis for cyclic loading (AISC 360 Appendix 3), seismic detailing for Zone IV (AISC 341), vibration analysis for machinery-supported structures, and thermal expansion accommodation for high-temperature environments.
Connection design follows AISC 360 Chapter J (strength), AISC 341/358 (seismic), and EN 1993-1-8 (Eurocode). We provide prequalified seismic connections (RBS, WUF-W, Bolted Flange Plate) for ductile moment frames and fully restrained braced frame connections per AISC 341.
Fabrication Capabilities
Our 50,000+ m² facility features: CNC flame and plasma cutting (up to 120mm thickness), CNC drilling lines (up to 80mm diameter), submerged arc welding (SAW) for heavy built-up sections, 50-ton overhead cranes for material handling, shot blasting to Sa 2.5, hot-dip galvanizing kettle (up to 13m length), and high-performance coating booths. Trial assembly of critical connections ensures on-site fit-up.
Quality Assurance
Every heavy industry project undergoes: ultrasonic testing (UT) of full-penetration welds, magnetic particle inspection (MT) of fillet welds, radiographic testing (RT) of critical butt welds, dimensional verification at 12 inspection checkpoints, and coating thickness measurement (DFT gauge). Documentation includes material test reports, welding procedure specifications, inspection test plans, and as-built drawings.
