Infrastructure & Transport Steel Structure

Infrastructure & Transport Steel Structures — Connecting Cities, Powering Progress

Sino East Steel Group fabricates steel structures for bridges, railway stations, airport terminals, metro systems, and transit hubs — combining aesthetic design with structural integrity to create landmarks that serve millions of people daily. Our infrastructure projects feature weathering steel, high-performance coatings (C5 marine grade), and seismic detailing compliant with Zone IV requirements, ensuring 75+ years of service life with minimal maintenance.

Project Scope

Infrastructure steel structures require unique engineering: long spans without intermediate supports, dynamic load resistance (traffic, wind, seismic), aesthetic integration with urban environments, and corrosion protection for 50-100 year service life. Our portfolio includes steel bridges (beam, truss, arch, cable-stayed), transportation hubs (stations, terminals, depots), and specialized structures (signal gantries, noise barriers, lighting towers).

Seismic design AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design, AISC 341/358 for ductile detailing
Fire rating Up to 2 hours (intumescent coating for transit facilities)

Applications

  • Bridges: Highway overpasses, railway bridges, pedestrian bridges, steel arch bridges, cable-stayed bridges, movable bridges
  • Railway: Station canopies, platform structures, signal gantries, overhead line equipment (OHLE) supports, maintenance depots
  • Aviation: Terminal buildings, hangar structures, control tower supports, passenger boarding bridges
  • Urban Transit: Metro station entrances, elevated track structures, bus terminal canopies, parking structures
  • Marine: Port structures, dock canopies, ferry terminals, container yard structures

Engineering Excellence

Infrastructure projects demand rigorous engineering. Our team performs: dynamic analysis for traffic-induced vibrations, wind tunnel data integration for long-span structures, seismic performance-based design (AASHTO LRFD, Eurocode 8), fatigue assessment for high-cycle loading (AASHTO Section 7), and pedestrian comfort analysis for vibration-sensitive structures.

For bridges, we design using AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications or Eurocode 1991-2 (traffic loads), with connection design following AASHTO Section 6 (steel bridges) or EN 1993-2. Orthotropic deck design follows AASHTO NSBA guidelines for optimal weight-to-strength ratio on long spans.

Weathering Steel Advantage

For atmospheric environments, weathering steel (ASTM A588, A709 Gr.50W, EN 10025-5 S355J2W) forms a self-protecting patina that eliminates the need for initial painting and reduces life-cycle maintenance costs by 50%+. The patina develops over 2-3 years, creating a distinctive amber-brown appearance that blends with natural landscapes — ideal for rural bridges and urban architectural features.

Corrosion Protection Systems

For marine and industrial environments (C5 corrosivity per ISO 12944), we apply multi-coat systems: zinc-rich epoxy primer (75μm), MIO intermediate coat (125μm), and polyurethane or fluorocarbon topcoat (75μm) — achieving 25+ years to first major maintenance. Hot-dip galvanizing (ISO 1461) is specified for small components and high-corrosion zones.

Project Delivery

Infrastructure projects typically follow a 6-18 month timeline: detailed design and analysis (8-16 weeks), fabrication (8-16 weeks), corrosion protection (2-4 weeks), shipping and site assembly (4-12 weeks). We coordinate with local contractors for site erection and provide on-site technical supervision.
